Very nice hiking area with a lot of differing trails and types. Definitely recommend good hiking shoes…lot of rocky areas and mud. Some steep places that had a rope to help. Looks like more trails being added on so the map isn’t completely right. The trail head and in about a mile were busy. Parking was difficult and very limited. There was one porta potty. Dogs were mostly off leash…of you don’t like dogs or yours isn’t good with others, might not be a good spot. Overall, great hiking area!
Very lovely, pretty hiking trail. A mix of easy to moderately challenging terrain. Lots of good shade when it’s hot. Easier in the summer before the creek fills up. Our pups absolutely love it here - there’s lots of nice scenery and doggie swimming holes. It’s a great place for a family hike, and you can count on your dog(s) conking out afterward. 🐶🤗
Wonderful hike, one of my absolute favorites. It's just short of 3 miles for the whole loop with some nice changes in elevation to get the heart rate going! Most of the trail is pretty wide but does get quite narrow in some portions. Great place to bring your dog as well, though many of them will be off-leash (something to consider if your dog is reactive to other dogs).
Great nature trail. Lots of wildflowers in Spring and Fall. There are easy, moderate and some more difficult sections of this trail which make for a good leg workout and cardio combination.
This trail is an out and back trail with a loop and during normal precipitation years will have approximately 20 water crossings that can be a bit tricky to cross which means that you need to be sure footed or you will get wet.
Wet foot advisory! Very glad I wore my waterproof hiking shoes. There are creek crossings (lost count after 7) , not too deep, and there are stepping stones, but so easy to step off. Lots of off leash dogs, but friendly. It's a good adventure. Beautiful creekside and rugged, not too much elevation change, a little uphill/downhill. We hiked the whole loop at around 90 minutes (~3 miles).
If you have a dog or just want to see a plethora of breeds, apparently, this is THE trail to be on! Lots of stairs and little water pools to enjoy.
Excellent 2.8- 3 miles of a nature trail! Beautiful scenery, a mixture of incline/ decline, elevation, water views. This is an off- leash dog trail🐾. I go to many different trails throughout Central Texas- this is hands- down the busiest trail (people and dogs) that I have been to. I went on a Saturday approx 10am start time. Would not suggest for dogs with mobility problems🐕 reactive dogs, pregnant 🤰🏾, stroller use or for newborn- 3 years old 🚼 unless the child is proficient at climbing and doing so without assistance. There are areas that you'll need to climb up or down as well as cross waters. The reason I wouldn't recommend for pregnant or young children is because the areas can get really slippery♒ and muddy from people and dogs going in and out the water or even from raining🌧 Carrying a child or being pregnant, etc not only poses a safety hazard for you but now that child as well, especially because some areas you may be inclined or declined climbing in those slippery conditions. That being said be mindful of the type of shoes 👟 you wear- more tread the better! Others have suggested keeping your feet dry is impossible- it depends on water levels🌊, amount of water movement and how well you are at maneuvering on the rocks🪨, I say plan for your shoes getting wet though.
My favorite trail in Austin. Do know that it is an official off leash trail. There is a sign on the bulletin board that indicates that. There is another sign that is a bit confusing because it indicates it doesn't want dogs in the "meadow". The off leash part is covered but it's peeling off. If you do go, expect off leash dogs. Don't bring folks afraid of dogs to this trail, especially at the weekend.
This trail is beautiful and well worth the trip.
